1% for The Planet - John Muir Trust

When we first started LWimages we just wanted to create images… the very best images we could… of the most amazing places around the world. But quickly we realized that many of those stunning places that drew explorers, climbers, bikers, kayakers and image makers like us, were also places that were under threat.

1% for the planet Lukasz Warzecha

Perhaps it’s because these places were so pristine and beautiful that the effects of rapid changes in the world’s environment could be more easily noticed. In many ways, these places are on the frontline of climate and environmental change. As people who’ve spent the majority of the last few decades on mountain glaciers, following river lines or diving the world’s oceans the effects of climate change are stark and beyond debate. The only thing up for discussion really was what are we going to do about what is largely a man-made issue.

As well as many lifestyle changes to minimise our personal impact on the environment, as a business LWimages decided to join 1% for the Planet – a commitment to give back to causes directly helping the environment. This winter we were due to make our donation and chose to give that to the John Muir Trust.

The John Muir Trust is a charity that conserves and protects wild places in Scotland and England with eight different tracts of land, an environmental award scheme and education program. We’ve had the pleasure of working with the Trust creating two films for their Wild in Me campaign. As a result, we know how dedicated they are in protecting some of Scotland’s and England's finest landscape, preserving it so that it can be there for us to appreciate not just today but for generations to come.
